At the State Lodge in Nakasero, the executive director of the board, Dan Odongo, presented the results of the biology examination. Out of 345,695 candidates who took the exam, 173,761 were male and 171,934 were female. The results showed that 15.5% of male students passed in Division 1, compared to 11.5% of female students. In Division 2, 23.3% of male students passed, compared to 21.0% of female students. Odongo also noted that female candidates performed better in English language, while male students performed better in chemistry.

It was reported that with over 2,500 centers, 70% of the students scored between P7 and F9 in Biology, which is considered a failing grade by many. This trend has been ongoing for several years, with only 60 D1s recorded in the entire country compared to over 76,000 F9s and 46,000 P8s.

The high rate of failure in biology can be attributed to several factors, including a lack of interest among students, poor study habits, a weak foundation in science, inadequate teaching, limited access to quality resources, and less exposure to examination-style questions.

In an effort to improve the performance of students in biology, it is important for schools, teachers, and parents to identify and address these challenges. Encouraging a love for science and biology, providing hands-on learning experiences, and promoting effective study habits can help students succeed in this subject.
